This was how our environment was meant to look like in comparison to the top image.this was due to technical difficulties it couldn't look this way. I was very upsetting that we didn't get to look like this, considering the amount of sleepless nights and effort that was put into it.

This is a perspective view of all our work put together where everything is starting to take shape and form.

Reflextion

After working in a group i feel i have partisipated well and bonded with the team. At times i was unhappy with my designs but in the end my designs. But it came out well in the end. All it took was hard work and determination to get to the stage that we got to. Building a city was never going to be an easy job, and the task we set ourselves was challenging and cpomplex. But because of are determination and good team spirit we built our city. I still feel i need to brush up on my skills such as modelling and texturing. This project has taught me that i am more than capable of doing any task. My difficulties were uv mapping and texturing.
For my textures i wanted to use different types of textures. It took me a while to decide what to use for my texturess. I looked at various movies and had an idea of what colours i wanted to use for my buildings. Some of the colours that i you can see have been influenced by films such as Tron and Blade Runner. The type of colours i was going for are blues and greens. I wanted to be as creative as possible with this project. Another one of my influences is the city of Dubai. There architectures are very creative.

Texture

The 2 buildings that you can see below were some of my favourite designs. I like the shapes and curves that i have added to it, which was inspired by the city of Dubi. I like the environments in Dubai and there innovative designs that they have.

Tuesday 2 March 2010

The building on the right was inspired by some of my previous posts of Dubai. In Dubai you could say that they are very modern and futuristic. This is were most of my designs sprung from. The tall building that you can see was inspired funnly enough by the Eiffel tower in France. I thought i would do something simmilar because i am fascinated by the Tower. One of the buildings that i have designed was inspired by the Empire State building. That was one of the buildings that came to my head when i found out that i was doing this project.

So far i have modeled all my buildings but i am not happy with the designs and i feel i can improve on them. So therefore i am going to go back to my research and do more designs, even though submissions are coming up. Below u can see i have started to apply textures to some of my designs. I now intend to do more designs and model different buildings.

Reflextion

I seem to be having problems the Uv texturing. When i apply a texture onto my mesh it doesn't turn out how i want it to look, it comes out the total opposite. I have usesd various types of uv maps ranging from cylindrical to planer mapping.

Reflextion

The only problem that i seem to be having is sorting out my UVs it seems to be frustrating me but i am getting there step by step. Its just when i apply a texture to it certain parts stretch and it doesnt look to good, this happens on most of my buildings.

I have started to apply some colours to my vehicles, i created the textures in Photoshop, i want to get an idea of how the hovering car will look whith the colours i have selected. I am not to sure if these will be the colours i am going to use. The last vehicle two vehicles that i put in my research is what my vehicle is based on, an old style Citron. I wanted to base my car on bladerunner, an old syyle vehicle.

This is a smoothed version of my vehicle that i have done. Its looking nice but im just worried about how the uvs and how they are going to look, hopefully not too messy.

This is is my finished version of my vehicle, i decided to add a spoiler to it to give it an innovative and stylized look.

This is the first stage of my of my modelling where i am starting to block the vehicle out.
Above are some the designs that i came up with based on the research that i put on my blog. The type of car that i have designed is a hovering car. Therefore it wont have any wheels.I am actually happy with the designs that i have actually produced, but it could be better.

Reflextion

I have started to texture some of my buildings, it going ok i still feel down in terms of my modelling and what i have contributed, but if the textures are good it will improve how it would look visually. But at the end of the day i know i could do better, i personally think we were a bit ambitious in terms of what we chose.

This is a car design that was done by Syd Mead. He is one of the best, if not not the best concept artist in the world for vehicles, and buildings. Elements of my car design will be influenced slightly by Syd Mead.

Cat Research

These are some of my models that i have done in Maya so far. In order to make my models more affective i will have to find and create good textures. At the moment i am looking for car designs, because in our scene i am going to have a futuristic car in the scene. Therefore i am going to look at mordern cars and old cars, so i do not limit myself in any way when comeing up with my design.

Building 2

After modeling this building i feel its a bit to simple and i could of done a bit more to it. I am not 100% happy with the work i have done. I guess i will have to put a lot more effort into my textures.

Building 1

When modeling this building i found that it is important to know your shapes. It makes things much easier, because at the end of the day our environment is made out of a combination of different shapes.

I have made the decision to model the two buildings on the left and the right. I think they look futuristic and stylistic. I tryed to incorporate the designs of some of the posts that i used as reference. At the end of the day i want to show the process of how i came to my final ideas.

Monday 15 February 2010

These are some of my sketches of the buildings. Most of the designs that i have are based on my research that i have gathered. I am not too sure which designs that i am going to go for next. I i feel these drawings look different to most buildings, or though they do have some similarities which i deliberately made. the last post shows a building that looks similar to the gherkin building in London. But at the same time i am not happy with my building designs i feel i can do a bit more. I feel at this stage i am behind and i need to start looking at textures.
